JENNIFER N. PRITZKER
Colonel (IL), IL ARNG (Retired)
President & Chief Executive Officer
COL (IL) Pritzker is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the United States Army and upon her retirement in 2001, was promoted to the rank of honorary Colonel in the Illinois National Guard. A historian, businesswoman, investor, developer, and philanthropist, she founded TAWANI Enterprises in 1997 as a private wealth management group specializing in the development, investment, management, and preservation of real estate properties in the Chicagoland area. Through her lifelong giving, she founded the TAWANI Foundation, and Pritzker Military Foundation to promote both her personal and military philanthropic interests. A veteran with a love of history, she founded the Pritzker Military Museum & Library in 2003 to promote and preserve the stories of the Citizen Solider.
Pritzker is fully committed to each endeavor she engages in and is guided by her core belief that it is important to build inherent value in any business entity one owns. As an investor and philanthropist, she is passionate about restoration, preservation, and property management. She has been honored with several awards for architectural excellence and preservation to include the 2016 Legendary Landmark by Landmarks Illinois and the 2016 Margery B. Perkins Award by the City of Evanston, Illinois, 2017 Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) Award for Architectural Excellence, and the 2017 Design Evanston Award for Stone Terrace. In 2016, she was awarded The Department of Defense, Spirit of Hope Award for her dedication to the men and women of the Armed Services of the United States and their families.
She currently serves on the boards of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association, Squadron Holdings LLC, and the Leadership Council for the Program in Human Sexuality Medical School of the University of Minnesota. She is the founder and Chairwoman of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, the Pritzker Military Foundation, and the TAWANI Foundation.
Prior to her founding of TAWANI, Colonel Pritzker served in the U. S. Army, U.S. Army Reserve, and the Illinois Army National Guard for 27 years. Her military career began with enlisting as a Private in the U.S. Army in 1974, where she served with the 82nd Airborne Division. After attending the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), at Loyola University, she received an active duty commission as an officer, rising to the rank of Captain. She served with the 101st Airborne Division and VII Corps in the Federal Republic of Germany. After leaving active duty in 1985, she continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Illinois Army National Guard until her retirement in March 2001 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and upon her retirement, received an honorary promotion to Colonel in the Illinois Army National Guard. She was awarded multiple military awards and qualifications to include; Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Antarctica Service Medal, State of Louisiana Legion of Merit. She obtained multiple qualifications such as the U.S Army Air Assault Badge and U.S. Army Parachute Badge as well as parachute badges from Israel, Russia, Canada, Poland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
Between 2000 and 2008, she participated in four expeditions to Antarctica with astronauts Dr. Owen Garriot, Captain James Lovell, and Dr. Birgit Sattler; the first Austrian female to visit the South Pole. In 2005, she was honored with the City of Chicago’s John A. Logan Patriot Award, and the 2012 Damen Award from Loyola University Chicago.
Pritzker is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in History, as well as the U.S. Army’s Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Chemical Officer Advanced Course, the Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course, and Command and General Staff College. She received an Honorary Doctorate of Military Science from Norwich University in 2007. Pritzker lives in Chicago and has three children, a daughter Tal Hava Pritzker, and two sons Andrew and William, and three grandchildren. The name TAWANI was created using an anagram combining the letters from her children’s first names.
